Dean, John C. Moore

John Moore received his Ph.D. in Linguistics in 1991 from UC Santa Cruz and has been on the UC San Diego Linguistics faculty since 1992. His research has been in the areas of theoretical syntax, lexical semantics, and Spanish linguistics. His current research includes work on the syntax of Moro (central Sudan), and Spanish, as spoken in the San Diego-Tijuana border region. Before assuming the role of Dean of Undergraduate Education, Dean Moore served as Department Chair, Chair of the Committee on Academic Personnel, Provost of John Muir College, and Chair of the Council of Provosts.

Outside academia, Dean Moore has played flamenco guitar semi-professionally for nearly 50 years and continues regular performances. In 2008 he released a solo guitar CD Cinfución and has another - Amordediosero - in production. Moore has recently begun to publish on flamenco topics, including several Ethnomusicology articles and an annotated translation of José Luis Ortiz Nuevo’s classic Mil y una historias de Pericón de Cádiz (A thousand and one stories of Pericón de Cádiz).

Assistant Dean, Kathleen D. Johnson

Kathleen D. Johnson is Assistant Dean of Undergraduate Education, serving as Chief of Staff for the Dean of Undergraduate Education (DUE). She works with the DUE in the ongoing strategic planning process for academic programs and initiatives and oversees the Office for Students with Disabilities, Summer Session, and the Academic Integrity Office.

Principal Project and Policy Analyst, Marina Hayden

Marina Hayden leads and directs a wide variety of programs and initiatives on behalf of Academic Affairs. She works with key campus leaders to develop and implement programs and solutions to meet strategic campus goals and accreditation requirements.

Analyst, Marie Sidney

Marie Sidney provides high-level analytical support for a wide range of undergraduate education initiatives, committees, and accreditation activities, conducting research, analyzing, and presenting data. She is the primary contact for the Academic Affairs administration of undergraduate program reviews and is responsible for the administration of the faculty Home Loan Program.

Analyst, April Burcham

April Burcham is responsible for academic personnel administration for the Dean of Undergraduate Education (DUE). She also is the DUE liaison to the student-run Course and Professor Evaluations (CAPE) and manages the Freshman and Senior Seminar Programs.

Executive Assistant & Program Coordinator, Hailey Caraballo

Hailey Caraballo is the executive assistant to the Dean of Undergraduate Education. She is also responsible for managing and coordinating several committees inlcuding the Diversity, Equity and Inclusion Committee, the Summer Graduate Teaching Scholars Committee and the Council on Undergraduate Education. Hailey also administers the program director appointments, helps coordinate the Undergraduate Program Reviews and maintains the website.
